Why Couples Love The Owen House
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings here is how stress-free the layout is.
Everything is located in one place, which means:
No transportation between venues
More time for portraits
Less walking for guests
Easier timeline planning
More relaxed wedding day experience
The bridal suite is spacious with plenty of natural light for getting ready photos, while the groom's quarters offer a comfortable place for the guys to hang out before the ceremony.
Having everything within a few minutes' walk keeps the day moving smoothly and allows us to maximize portrait time without feeling rushed.
Best Photo Locations at The Owen House
One reason I love photographing weddings here is the variety of portrait locations without ever leaving the property.
1. The Ceremony Site Beneath the Trees
This is easily my favorite location.
The mature trees create beautiful filtered light while naturally framing the ceremony. They also provide much-needed shade during warmer Texas weddings, making both guests and photographs look their best.
Golden hour portraits here are especially beautiful.
2. The Historic Front of The Owen House
The front of the historic home offers timeless architecture that's perfect for classic wedding portraits.
Whether it's bride and groom portraits, family photos, or bridal party images, the historic exterior creates an elegant backdrop that never goes out of style.
3. The Side Gardens
The side of the property feels tucked away from the rest of the wedding.
This area is filled with greenery, mature landscaping, and soft natural light, making it one of the best locations for romantic portraits without distractions.
Rachel and Teddy's portraits here were some of my favorites from the entire day.
My Photography Tips for The Owen House
After photographing a wedding here, here are a few recommendations I'd give future couples:
Plan Time for Golden Hour
The property photographs beautifully throughout the day, but the gardens and trees absolutely glow during sunset.
Even setting aside 15–20 minutes during your reception can make a huge difference in your final gallery.
Consider a First Look
Since everything is on-site, a first look gives you plenty of time for:
Wedding party photos
Family portraits
Couple portraits
before guests arrive, allowing you to enjoy more of cocktail hour later.
Trust the Trees
One of the venue's biggest advantages is its mature landscaping.
The trees provide beautiful shade throughout much of the property, creating flattering light even during bright Texas afternoons.
