Vintage Villas Wedding Guide | Lake Travis Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas

The Complete Guide to Getting Married at Vintage Villas in Austin, Texas

If you've been dreaming of saying "I do" with panoramic views of Lake Travis, breathtaking sunsets, and the rolling Texas Hill Country as your backdrop, Vintage Villas is one of Austin's most beautiful waterfront wedding venues.

I've had the pleasure of photographing weddings here, including Kyra & Saul's and Charlene & Andrew's celebrations, and it's a venue I always look forward to returning to. From the stunning ceremony overlook to the lakeside portrait locations, every corner of the property offers incredible opportunities for timeless wedding photos.

Whether you're planning an intimate celebration or a larger gathering, here's everything you should know about getting married at Vintage Villas.

About Vintage Villas

Located on a bluff overlooking Lake Travis, Vintage Villas is a full-service wedding venue just outside downtown Austin. The property offers two ceremony and reception options, in-house catering, overnight accommodations, and incredible Hill Country views from nearly every part of the venue.

Couples can choose between the Gazebo & Event Center, which accommodates larger celebrations of up to 299 guests, or the more intimate Arbor & Travis Room, ideal for weddings of up to 70 guests. Both spaces feature outdoor ceremonies with panoramic lake views and indoor reception areas with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Why Couples Love Vintage Villas

One of the biggest advantages of Vintage Villas is that it truly feels like a destination wedding without leaving Austin.

Couples love the venue because it offers:

  • Incredible Lake Travis views

  • Indoor and outdoor ceremony options

  • On-site hotel accommodations for guests

  • Full-service catering

  • Gorgeous sunset backdrops

  • Convenient all-in-one wedding experience

  • Multiple ceremony and reception options depending on guest count

Because everything happens on one property, the wedding day flows effortlessly from getting ready through the reception.

My Favorite Photo Locations at Vintage Villas

Having photographed multiple weddings here, these are always my go-to portrait locations.

The Lake Travis Overlook

Without question, this is the signature location at Vintage Villas.

The overlook provides sweeping panoramic views of Lake Travis and the surrounding Hill Country. Whether we're shooting bride and groom portraits or sneaking away during golden hour, this location never disappoints.

The sunsets here are some of my favorite in the Austin area.

The Ceremony Pergola

The pergola ceremony site is beautiful all on its own, but after the ceremony it becomes one of my favorite portrait locations.

The architectural lines, surrounding landscaping, and lake views create timeless images while keeping everyone close to the reception.

The Open Field

Just below the main venue is one of my favorite hidden portrait locations.

The open landscape features beautiful Texas grasses, massive agave plants, and wide-open Hill Country scenery that feels completely removed from the wedding venue.

This is where I love creating romantic, natural portraits that showcase the beauty of Central Texas.

The Cocktail Hour Balcony

The cocktail patio overlooking Lake Travis is gorgeous during cocktail hour and even better after sunset.

Large oak trees, glowing string lights, and panoramic lake views create an incredibly romantic atmosphere for candid moments, family photos, and evening portraits.

It's one of those spaces that feels magical once the lights come on.

Photography Tips for Vintage Villas

Plan Time for Sunset Portraits

Vintage Villas is known for its sunsets.

I always recommend reserving 15–20 minutes during golden hour to step away for portraits overlooking Lake Travis. Those images almost always become favorites from the entire gallery.

Consider a First Look

A first look allows us to photograph:

  • Wedding party portraits

  • Family photos

  • Couple portraits

before guests arrive, giving you more time to enjoy cocktail hour.

Let the View Shine

The scenery is one of the venue's greatest features.

Simple décor and floral designs complement the natural beauty without competing with the incredible Lake Travis backdrop.

Kyra & Saul & Charlene & Andrew's Weddings

I've had the opportunity to photograph both Kyra & Saul's and Charlene & Andrew's weddings at Vintage Villas, and each wedding highlighted something different about the venue.

From emotional ceremonies overlooking Lake Travis to golden hour portraits on the overlook and romantic evening photos beneath the twinkle lights, Vintage Villas consistently delivers some of the most beautiful wedding galleries in Central Texas.
